About The Symphony League

The Symphony League of Beaumont is a volunteer organization that supports the Symphony of Southeast Texas through voluntarism, fundraising, and education. Throughout the year, League members volunteer their time during Symphony concerts and rehearsals, with the League’s fundraising events, the League youth programs, and youth education programs.

Symphony Relations

The Symphony League supports the Symphony of Southeast Texas by promoting ticket sales, working the box office, ushering at all concerts, providing meals and refreshments during orchestra performances and rehearsals, promoting and volunteering for the Symphony youth concerts, and supporting the Symphony financially.

Fundraising

SYMPHONY BALL ~ The Symphony Ball is the Symphony League’s largest fundraising event.  The annual Ball celebrates the Symphony and honors eighth grade young ladies and gentlemen who are presented as Belles and Beaus.  It is a fabulous event with dinner, dancing, and the presentation of the Belles and Beaus.  The proceeds from the Ball provide support for the League and the Symphony of Southeast Texas.

Education

EDUCATION ~ The Symphony League strives to maintain an ongoing relationship with our Symphony by educating schools and the community regarding symphonic music and its influence in all aspects of quality living

AFTER SCHOOL STRING – The Symphony League of Beaumont facilitates a youth music education program.  This string program includes group and one-on-one music instruction.  The League also provides funds to rent instruments for qualifying students in the program.

Side by Side Concerts - Beaumont Symphony

STRING COMPETITION – The Symphony League’s String Competition is held annually to encourage and support area school-aged string players. Volunteers meticulously organize, publicize, and present this program which encourages and enriches the skills of southeast Texas students who have the potential of becoming orchestra string players in the future.

YOUTH CONCERTS ~ Symphony League volunteers greet guests and serve as ushers at all youth concerts presented by the Symphony of Southeast Texas each year.

SUMMER CAMP ~ This is a one week camp during the summer that runs from 9am-12pm. Students participate in ensemble groups (small groups divided by ability), receive music theory instruction and also play in a large group.  A performance is given for the parents on the last day of camp.  Students also receive door prizes each morning which are donated by the League. This camp is enjoyed by all that attend.

Public Relations

ADVOCACY ~ The Symphony League of Beaumont is a strong advocate of the arts, and diligently works to keep members abreast of current trends and legislative issues.

PUBLIC RELATIONS ~ Throughout the year, the Symphony League of Beaumont publishes a newsletter, invites the media to events related to Symphony activities, sponsors princesses in the Neches River Festival, and works with other arts agencies to promote community awareness of our symphony.

Youth Programs

The Symphony League of Beaumont has a variety of programs that celebrate and honor the youth of southeast Texas.  These programs foster and encourage musical education, participation, and appreciation of music and the Symphony

YOUTH GUILD ~ The Symphony League Youth Guild is comprised of high school young ladies and gentlemen who volunteer their time to the Symphony League of Beaumont and the Symphony of Southeast Texas. Volunteer opportunities include ushering at Symphony concerts, working with the string competition, and assisting as needed with other symphony projects throughout the year.

Flower Belles
Flower Belles

FLOWER BELLE PROGRAM – The Flower Belle program honors girls from Kindergarten through 4th grade.  The Flower Belles are incorporated into part of the presentation of the Belles at the Symphony Ball.  Flower Belles are nominated and selected for participation in the program.

SYMPHONY BELLES ~ Symphony Belles are eighth grade young ladies who are presented at Symphony Ball each year. This program provides the opportunity to introduce these young ladies to the activities of the Symphony League of Beaumont and the Symphony of Southeast Texas.

SYMPHONY BEAUS – Like the Symphony Belle program, the Symphony Beaus are eighth grade gentlemen who are presented during the Symphony Ball.  The program provides the opportunity to introduce middle school gentlemen to the activities of the Symphony League of Beaumont and the Symphony of Southeast Texas.

DEBUTANTE PROGRAM ~ The Symphony League’s Debutante program provides the opportunity to introduce high school senior young ladies to the activities of the Symphony League of Beaumont and the Symphony of Southeast Texas. Debutante selection is based on the family’s participation in the SLB, their commitment to the Symphony of Southeast Texas, and the potential Debutante’s participation in Youth Guild.
